Caregiver

About the Position:

PRO-Care provides a variety of services to assist seniors, people with disabilities, and
chronically ill individuals in remaining as independent and comfortable in their own
homes as possible. We are looking for dependable, caring, compassionate, and
dedicated caregivers to help us achieve our goal of providing excellent and quality
services to our clients in the lower mainland. If you have work or personal experience
with senior family members, are empathetic, dependable, and caring, this could be the

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out light housekeeping (dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom andkitchen, changing linens, laundry and ironing, pet and plant care, and more)
  • Assist with errands such as grocery shopping and other appointments;
  • Plan and prepare meals for clients;
  • Adhere to the client care plan and keep a record of each client's daily activities;
  • Ensure that the home is always a safe place;

Encourage clients to participate in social and recreational activities;

Required Education and Experience:

  • +1 year previous related work or personal experience
  •  Completion of High School/Certificate
  •  Related certification is an asset
  • Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
  •  First aid certificate is required (or willing to obtain one)

Valid Driver’s License with a Clean Driver’s Abstract

 

Care Aid

  • Positive attitude and pleasing personality,
  • Knowledgeable with urinary catheters, feeding tubes, wound care, ostomies, medication administration (subcutaneous/intramuscular injections, insulin administration)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Excellent organization, multitasking, and leadership skills
  • Enjoyment in social activities, and one-on-one engagement
  • Flexible (must be available weekdays, weekends and available at short notice)
  • Know his/her limitation

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists clients with their personal needs such as bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding, oral care, feeding, and incontinence care
  • Enables clients to stay in their homes by monitoring and documenting their condition, providing support and personal services.

  • Reminds the client to take self-administered medications
  •  Provides transportation assistance to outings, appointments, and outings
  •  Must have a smart cellphone and data to access online documentation system
  •  Must have a reliable vehicle to transport clients

Required Education and Experience:

  • +1 year previous related work or personal experience
  • Completion of High school, Certificate/Diploma
  •  Care Aide Certification with BC Care Aide Registry Number is an asset
  • Related work or personal experience may be considered
  • Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
  • First aid certificate is required (or willing to obtain one)

Licenced Practical Nurse (LPN)

  • Assist Client Coordinator in developing or maintaining a care plan for the client

  •  Provide ongoing communication with Client Coordinator regarding the client’s status

  •  Providing education to patients (i.e post-op discharge instructions, how to self monitor high
    blood pressure, diabetes, pain, and many other chronic conditions)

  •  Maintains a safe home environment for clients

  • Engage clients to social and recreational activities

  •  Encourage client’s independence and overall wellness

  • Provides emotional support and promotes a sense of well-being medication review

  •  Implement health promotion practices such as vital signs, weights, blood sugar checks, and

  •  Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with clients, family members, and
    visitors.

  • Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to clients, business
    operations, and personnel.

  •  Complete additional tasks assigned by the Clinical Care Coordinator

  •   Must have a smart cellphone and data to access online documentation system

Required Education and Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience required
  • Graduate of an approved Nursing Education program required
  •   Valid nursing license with good standing with BCCNP
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
  • Valid class 5 drivers license required
  •  Must have a reliable vehicle
  • Updated immunization record
  • Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
